Wrote a diary for years, but it sort of petered out in my early 30s – when I stopped clubbing and meeting people and most of my diary entries were about work and food. At the time I didn’t think I would ever be interested in reading about what I ate on a daily basis, but I realise now that I would love to revisit all those foodie fads and fashions, the good, bad and ugly hours in the kitchen and cringe at how many days dinner comes out of a bottle – or worse from a singed, plastic carton. Anyway, if it’s good enough for Nigel and Nigella it’s good enough for me – they both famously document everything they eat and cook.
Ade is now proudly stashing a huge Kilner jar full of goose fat in the fridge. He says he feels like any self respecting French guy, who should have a supply of goose fat at this time of year. I suppose he could rub it on his chest, to keep out the winter chill when he goes surfing ...
